Wyse TCX Suite

Wyse's vision is to provide customers with thin computing benefits without any compromises on the end user experience. Wyse TCX is the cornerstone to delivering on this vision. It provides an "Enrichment" component within the thin computing infrastructure during the access to corporate applications -- irrespective of the backend infrastructure used to access them.

There are a number of different components in this overall brand of solutions that are being developed by Wyse. Wyse TCX Multimedia

Wyse TCX Multimedia 2.0 software provides rich multimedia playback capabilities within an ICA or RDP environment. TCX Multimedia is a software layer on the server that intelligently redirects the multimedia processing tasks dynamically between the client and server. The multimedia stream decodes locally on the client using the local processing power of the device thereby providing complete multimedia playback capabilities overcoming any limitations that are inherent in traditional thin computing architectures. The Wyse TCX multimedia reduces the server load as well as the network bandwidth as the streams can be directly delivered to the client from a local media server rather than through the datacenter. Wyse TCX Multi-display

Wyse TCX Multi-display 1.1 streamlines the user experience of an end-user while working across multiple screens within a ICA/RDP connection. Wyse TCX multi-display software is deployed on the server side and a client side component is deployed in the local operating system on the client side.

The solution works in the "span" mode i.e. a RDP/ICA desktop connection that is extended so that the same desktop is spread across 4 monitors. Wyse TCX Multi-display software provides the windowing capabilities that makes the desktop multiple monitor aware. In version 1.1, the TCX Multi-display software is made and restricted to Wyse device use only. The software makes sure that the maximization of a window within the desktop is limited to only 1 screen (rather than across both screens without Wyse TCX software) and the dialog boxes/popup windows are also centered on the appropriate window. Using a virtual desktop server-based infrastructure decreases employee's downtime since all trouble shooting, management and control can be handled efficiently from a central location. A virtual server set up greatly reduces the risk of viruses by allowing your IT experts to build the proper infrastructure in order to create a more secure environment. Wyse EDV also overcomes the hesitation of giving up a personal operating system and applications, since all operating systems, such as Windows XP Professional or Vista, execute independently for each desktop. Since each desktop has its own dedicated virtual machine a user will maintain their personalized desktop and applications while not conflicting with other users.

The key is to take the extra step in a virtual environment. A complete desktop virtual solution features a desktop device that can leverage this architecture, while maintaining the security and management levels you put in place.

How It Works

1. Start with the Server
   The first thing you need is a virtual desktop server and desktop virtualization solution. The Wyse EDV solution works at the desktop, offering a simple solution that dramatically improves IT staff productivity. Desktop virtualization puts a thin layer of software is between the server hardware and the operating system. This supports the management of multiple virtual machines within the server: each virtual machine with its own operating system and applications. The Wyse EDV solution then assigns each thin computer its own virtual machine on the server.
   
2. Address the desktop
   At the desktop, the Wyse thin computer works just like a standard PC. The Wyse S10-VDI Edition is connection-broker aware, so it automatically finds its virtual desktop on the server. Your Wyse thin computers are also centrally managed and accessible from anywhere on the network. The Wyse Thin OS-VDI Edition also delivers the utmost security and protection from viruses and malicious software because the software does not have a publicly exposed API that can be exploited by hackers.
